In the latest edition of the Wedding Mailbag, SimpleRegistry editor Adam Warner dishes out advice when it comes to handling guests who purchase a physical gift from a store (and not from your cash registry).
Be sure to send your questions for the next edition to blog@simpleregistry.com.
Q: What if a guest ends up purchasing a registry item elsewhere, like a physical store?
A: If your registry page is set up to accept the cash/check payment option, guests can complete the checkout process for free and the registry will be updated. They'll just need to click on the "Dollar Bill" payment icon at checkout.
At some later time (such as the shower or wedding) the gift giver can present the couple with the item(s).
If the couple hasn't activated the cash/check payment option, guests can always contact them (or a close friend or family member) to let them know they should update the registry to reflect your purchase.
Meanwhile, members can easily enable this setting by visiting the "Gift Types & Fees" section of their SimpleRegistry account.
